There are so many famous people from Atlanta, a city which has been central to America since its inception. Prominent people from all walks of life come from this city, and their words have made contributions everywhere.
Ted Turner summed up a lot of the Atlanta spirit when he said, “I see what keeps people young: work!” He added, “I’ve never run into a guy who could win at the top level in anything today and didn’t have the right attitude, didn’t give it everything he had, at least while he was doing it; wasn’t prepared and didn’t have the whole program worked out.”
There have been many great entertainers from Atlanta. Take, for example, the amazing comedian David Cross. “I also try to think of ways to articulate the joke more economically,” he said. “It’s not about trying to be funny all the time. It’s more of a document that hopefully is funny.” Going back further in history, look for the homespun wisdom of Joel Chandler Harris, author of the Uncle Remus books. “Watch out when you’re getting all you want,” Mr Harris said. “Fattening hogs ain’t in luck.”
The famous former mayor of Atlanta, Ivan Allen, has one last thing to say. “The city of Atlanta has always had a good spirit.”
