If "Indian" was relevant to the comment, then yes, put it. However, I don't understand its relevance in this context. And personally, I am sickened and appalled. I thought we were making some serious social progress in this country, but now, it looks like we're back on the way to Jim Crow laws.
While I also agree that the racial labels were totally unnecessary, I think assuming this somehow means we're on the verge of instilling laws that won't allow minorities to vote might be a slight overreaction.
Uh, dude? Jim Crow laws did a bit more than disenfranchise minorities; they balkanized an entire nation, with segregated bathrooms, diners, hotels, etc. Their purpose was to reinforce the idea that "white is right" and denigrate the non-white individual.
However, I concur - I don't think one idjit's use of unnecessary adjectives will lead to manumission. Then again, they (our gentle overlords who choose the comments may they reign forever) may have edited out part of the conversation. Or maybe this was a cheap shot at curry. We will never know.
If race wasn't significant, OIA should have left it out in the first place. OIA chose to remove the label, which is good and shows they realized the error.
You grow up. So there.
The thing is OIA used to mention the race of the people speaking a lot more than they do now. I don't know if it's because people stopped telling them that much info or what but there's no reason to assume that mentioning it now is somehow racist.
If this comment was labeled 'white girl' or 'sororstitute' or 'ghetto girl' 'white trash' etc. and had them saying something stupid no one would complain... how hypocritical.
